Presbyterian churches are governed by a pastor (or pastors) and a group of congregation members known as elders.
Some Presbyterian churches have a second group that oversee certain aspects of the church, known as deacons. Timberridge currently has only elders, although we also had deacons years ago.
All congregation members can have a voice in nominating people for consideration as elders or deacons. Once a nominating committee determines the slate of potential elders or deacons, the congregation holds a meeting to vote their acceptance. Elders and deacons are ordained and installed for service one Sunday during worship.
